The East Akim Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Kate Agyeman-Badu, has advised women to form social clubs to enable them to share ideas, experiences and initiate projects to enhance their living standards.
Mrs. Agyeman-Badu made the call at the inauguration of the Nkawkaw Diamond Ladies Club, a benevolent social ladies club at Nkawkaw.
She explained that experts could also be invited to educate them on the management of stress, time and conflict in their homes.
Mrs. Agyeman-Badu said the list of experts should include financial and bank managers who would introduce them to some of their products and teach them how to access assistance for their businesses.
She said medical doctors and other health experts could educate them on diseases such as breast cancer, which mostly affect women.
The Municipal Director of Education advised women to take interest in their children's education, especially the girl child, since females could also hold responsible positions when given the right education. She advised husbands to cooperate and assist their wives to maintain the home and ensure the proper upbringing of their children.
Speaking on the inaugural theme, "The Ghanaian Woman and the Challenges in the 21st century," the Kwahu West Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Alex Somuah Obeng, said women in responsible positions, such as the Speaker of Parliament, Chief Justice and Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, attained those positions through their education.
He, therefore, advised women to avoid accumulating personal effects and use their limited resources to educate their children.
Mr. Obeng urged them to burry their political affiliations, honour their tax obligations and contribute their quota towards the development of the Municipality.
The Member of Parliament for Nkawkaw, Mr. Seth Adjei-Baah, advised women to use their population advantage to mobilize resources to acquire the needed assistance to enhance their development.
The President of the Club, Nana Sapormaa, said the objective of the club was to unite and mobilize resources to cater for widows, children and the needy.
